Swedish Death Cleaning

Purge your belongings when you want to. Don’t wait until you have to.

Before any hands-on work begins with Divine Order, a FREE 30-minute telephone consultation takes place. During this initial dialogue we will:

  • Discuss your specific needs and determine if the services Divine Order offers can meet your needs
  • Address any questions or concerns you may have that are not included on the FAQ page
  • Determine if a one-hour in-home assessment is needed, or if you’re ready to book a session and start the work. (See ‘The Work’ below)
  • Determine if we’re mutually a good fit working together

One-hour In-home Consultation & Needs Assessment (optional)

A one-hour in-home consultation and needs assessment may take place depending on your project size and scope and your comfort level. This assessment allows me to visually ‘see’ your space and your belongings, and to determine what home organizing services you would benefit from. A $40 fee is applied and is payable at the end of the consultation. This fee will be waived if a 3-hour session is booked.

Action Plan, Time Estimate & Quote

You will receive an action plan (depending on size and scope of your project), goals, time estimate and quote that will include:

  • areas to focus on and recommendations to achieve your home organizing goals
  • an estimate of the number of hours required to complete your project
  • a quote for my fees to complete the tasks we both agreed to concentrate on
  • any additional known costs that may be associated with your project

The Work

Step 1: Assess – Your belongings and physical spaces are evaluated. Unused or inefficiently used spaces are identified for maximize  storage solutions.

Step 2: Sort – The sorting process is the most critical of all the steps. Each item currently in the space will be looked at to decide ‘Keep, Donate, Sell, Dispose’. Items might be donated, given away, sold or disposed of. A garage sale may be planned. Items of value might be sold or consigned.

Step 3: Organize & Beautify – Once everything has been sorted, we’ll work together to determine the most efficient way to store, display and access the items you want to keep in the space(s). The main motivators for this work will dictate the outcome (eg. staging to sell, downsizing). Any containers, storage units or other items that will be beneficial in creating the final space will be reused or purchased.

Step 4: Maintain – Systems and ‘flows’ are created that work specifically for your needs, your family, your space and your more efficient lifestyle. You will be taught the ‘One Touch Method’ to help you maintain your organized and decluttered space.
